About Positive Dog Training

Founded in 2011 by Suzi Walsh and Liz McDonagh, Positive Dog Training (PDT) aims to provide welfare friendly training and grooming in a positive and encouraging environment. Fully qualified, insured and highly experienced, PDT only advise methods and products that they would use/give to their own dogs.

Liz interest in working with dogs stems from
spending years volunteering with rescue dog organisations. 

Over the past 10 years, Liz has completed many dog training & behavior courses including an intensive one year mentorship programme with Steve Mann, chairman and head trainer of the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers
and a full time professional dog grooming course with Dog Grooming Ireland.Liz is a full accredited member (knowledge and
practical assessment) of the Institute Of Modern Dog Trainers, a member of the Pet Professional Guild. member of the
Irish Professional Dog Groomers Association, The National Association of
Professional Creative Groomers and is a certified Canine first aid instructor.

Following on from running her own successful dog
grooming and pet accessory shop, in January 2011 Liz teamed up with Suzi
decided to take the next big step and open Positive Dog Training where their
combined experience in grooming, handling, training and caring for all manner
of dogs could be housed in one state of the art centre.


Liz  has attended numerous seminars,
workshops and courses on dog training and handling with some of the leading
names in dog training and behaviour including those presented by Dr. Ian
Dunbar, Sarah Kalnajs, Victoria Stilwell, Sarah Whitehead, Jim Crosby, Nicole
Wilde, Karen Wild, Steve Mann, Nando Brown, Sarah Fisher, Susan Friedman, ICAWC
conference (Barcelona 2013) WOOF conference  ( UK 2013 ). Canine Nutrition
(IMDT 2014 ) Bitework Presentation ( IMDT 2014 )  Liz has also recently completed 2 short online courses with Coursera, Animal Welfare and Behaviour in association with the University of Edinburgh and Canine Theriogenology for Dog Enthusiasts in association with the University of Minnesota.

Liz has four rescue dogs, a eleven year old Border Collie Sheba, a nine year old German Shepherd cross called Cassie, eight year old Border Collie called Nala and new member of the gang, Hoshi a four year old Lurcher.

Suzi Walsh

Suzi Walsh Suzi grew up with a love of all animals, always wanting to work full time with dogs. After leaving school Suzi attended University College Dublin to study Zoology. Following her degree she was accepted into Edinburgh University to study at the Royal Dick School of Veterinary and graduated with Masters in Applied Animal Welfare and Behaviour.

On returning to Ireland Suzi began working for Dogs Trust Ireland while continuing her education in the area of dog training and behaviour. Following on from that Suzi began employment with the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind as a supervisor in Dublin and in 2010 qualified as a puppy trainer for Guide Dogs worldwide. She also worked with the veterinary department of Dublin Zoo on a nutritional research project for captive wild animals.

In 2009 Suzi was nominated for an Ireland Involved award for her extensive work with rescue dogs and was a runner up in the Animals and Environment category (http://www.irelandinvolvedawards.ie/2009-ireland-involved-awards/short-listed-nominees-2009/suzi-walsh/).

Suzi has attended numerous seminars on dog training and handling including those presented by Dr. Ian Dunbar, Sarah Kalnajs, Victoria Stilwell, Sarah Whitehead, Jim Crosby and Sarah Fisher. Suzi has also written many articles on dog training and welfare which have been published in newspapers and online resource websites. Suzi has also worked training dogs in the film industry.

Shauna is part of our wonderful daycare team. Shauna loves all animals and has two beautiful pet ferrets Missy and Phoebe. Shauna has a FETAC level 5 in Animal Care, FETAC level 6 in Advanced Animal Health Care, Canine First Aid. Shauna came to us as part of an internship programme and was so great we took her on full time. Shauna is always ready to learn and her interests are in training and behaviour. Shauna is currently studying with the famous Jean Donaldson Academy for Dog Trainers.Shauna looks out for the needs of our daycare friends always making sure they are happy and content.
